The DTE is middleware. Designed originally for Advent's Geneva but customizable to support other accounting applications, the DTE facilitates the movement of data between various systems that today's hedge funds have come to rely on.

The DTE sits in the center of your data flow as it optionally translates and enriches your data. Once the data is enhanced, the DTE passes it on to other applications. Here's an example of the data flow at a typical hedge fund which uses Geneva:

Trades are entered into Eze Castle's Tradewinds OMS software

Trades are imported into the DTE

The DTE automatically detects new securities

Optionally, a connection is made with Bloomberg so that the new security's investment data is enriched with various fundamental data such as the number of shares outstanding

New investments are seamlessly loaded into Geneva's security master

The trades are sent to Geneva seamlessly via the Geneva Callable Loader

Current positions are imported from Geneva by the DTE

The DTE prices the current positions using the Bloomberg Data Service and the prices are also seamlessly loaded into the Geneva database using the Callable Loader.

Current positions are also exported to update the Tradewinds database

Furthermore, positions, trades and prices can be exported to be used by Microsoft Excel and other 3rd party applications such as programs for risk analysis or reconcilation.

 Custom reports....

Does your firm have a need for a set of custom reports? The DTE, since it processes all trade data, position data and it has its own security master table is an excellent platform for hosting any custom reports that you might need.

A fully configured, customized DTE will save your firm time. And it will save your firm money.
